HOW WE SERVE

Through our Evangelical church plant, trade school, medical clinic, hospital ministry, hands on projects and

disciple making we are being the hands and feet of Jesus throughout Chiquimula, Guatemala

City of Refuge

Our ministry headquarters, the City of Refuge, is the hub of BBIC's outreach. A trade school, medical clinic, church, and mission team housing can be found at the COR. It is a place where the people of Camotán can get away from their harsh reality of everyday life and be shown that they can do anything with God’s strength. Just right up the way is the House of Refuge, our foster home.

Medical Clinic

We serve several different communities with free medical care and medical education. Free healthcare and medicines are used as a platform to evangelize through meeting people’s physical needs. Camotán is where the City of Refuge is located and We are actively working with these people to build relationships and help with malnourishment and sickness. Our main focus is for the people to see Jesus through these medical clinics.

Patricia "Patty" Del Cornel cares for local patients each weekend. People walk for hours just to receive free medical care and medicines. Patty also travels into the mountain villages to take quality medical care to them and is on call when needed. The medical clinic has opened many doors for us to minister physically and spiritually to the people of the area.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

- Romans 8:37-39

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

- 1 John 4:7-8

Foster Home

The House of Refuge is equipped to house up to 10 babies and a foster family. In 2018, we were blessed with the opportunity to expand to a second floor, providing more space and allowing children of older ages to stay with us. Our goal with this project is to provide a temporary place of love for babies while we find a forever home for them.

Church

Ours is the only evangelical church in our village. Some people in our community live high up in the mountains and cannot afford to come down for church services, so each week we have in-home Bible studies with them. God has used these Sunday and Wednesday meetings to lay foundational Truths in our area, build strong relationships, lead us to some of our dedicated staff members, and to bring salvation to many Guatemalan people.

Trade School

BBIC has partnered with a nationally accredited trade school, INTECAP. INTECAP’s certified instructors teach all classes at the City of Refuge while BBIC supplies the funding and materials needed. Men and women enrolled in our classes are equipped with practical trades. Upon graduation, they receive a diploma recognized nationwide, and can ultimately provide for their families. Part of BBIC's ministry model is not only to provide Guatemalans with necessities to live, but to empower individuals to see their God-given potential and overcome the poverty cycle.

Discipleship

Our weekly Bible Studies are rooted in the Word of God. We believe that God does not only want us to go, but to also disciple.

We are living out that call in the mountain villages surrounding our area and in the church based at the City of Refuge. BBIC also holds Bible studies at the national police stations. We are blessed with the opportunity to share the Word of God with people and watch them grow in their Christian walk and life.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;  I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. - Psalms 32:8

Hands On

God gave BBIC a desire to see the people of Guatemala lifted up and their physical needs met. The water in Guatemala is very contaminated and the living conditions are unfit. Some of the ways we are able to help in these areas are through construction of new block homes, replacing thatch roofs with metal roofs, and giving out fresh water filters. All of these things are made possible by our God led supporters.

Give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

- Psalm 136:26

Hospital Ministry

The hospitals and malnourishment centers in Guatemala are very saddening and gloomy. BBIC is able to visit the local hospital and bring the word and comfort of Jesus Christ. Prayer is a very powerful tool that God has given us and we exercise that with the sick children and adults. Currently we visit the Chiqiumula National Hospital, Malnourishment centers bringing toys to the kids, clothes, and supplying the hospital with supplies.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

- 1 John 4:7-8
